A signed card is placed into the center of the deck. With a snap of the magician's fingers the card travels to the top of the deck.

Since the early 1700’s, magicians have been dazzling their audiences by finding selected playing cards with knives. In the intervening years, legendary magicians such as Charles Bertram, Nate Leipzig, Karl Germain, Max Malini, and countless others have used this effect to astound onlookers and forge reputations.

On this DVD, you’ll be treated to seven different interpretations of the Card Stab. Johnny Thompson begins with Max Malini’s legendary version as he stabs three selections from cards scattered across a table while blindfolded. Michael Ammar contributes another legend’s take on the Card Stab – this time Nate Leipzig – as two cards are located by a knife thrust into the center of a pack of cards that’s been wrapped in a napkin. In a similar vein, Frank Garcia enables a spectator to stab their own signed selection in a wrapped-up pack while also providing a lovely bonus card production from a card case. Daryl finds a selected card by stabbing through a newspaper that covers cards that are spread across a tabletop while Jeff Sheridan expands on a Milbourne Christopher concept and stabs a card from a shuffled deck while it’s suspended in a bag fashioned from a paper napkin. Liquid has been in the workshop for years and is now ready for release, here's what it looks like.

What it looks like, Spectator signs a completely free choice (no force), the card is then lost in the deck and handed to the spectator to hold and shuffle. A cocktail napkin is then borrowed and inspected along with a window. The window is then covered with the cocktail napkin and the cards are sprung at the window. All the cards fall and the shadow of one card is seen behind the napkin, the napkin is ripped and revealed to show the signed card, which is then surgically pulled back through the window and handed to the spectator to keep.

Angel

Any card is selected by the spectator, who signs all over its face with permanent ink.

The angel at the back of the signed bicycle card is then colored a solid black with the same marker.

The magician blows over the ink, even rubbing it with his fingertips, proving that it is a permanent mark over the now dark angel.

With a gentle wave the ink on the angel visually fades away, morphing back into the angel; the signature on its face still permanently etched on, a symbol of the impossible occurrence.

Angel Redux

The angel at the back of a signed, freely selected bicycle card is cleanly sliced out with a pen-knife, leaving a circular hole in the selection.

With a gentle wave, the angel visually and gradually regenerates in full view, making the card whole once again.

Hotspot

A signed card is folded in half and has its middle ripped out.

First the ripped out piece teleports from the magician’s pocket back to the destroyed card, fully restoring it.

Then the piece is ripped out again and placed in the magician’s mouth. He spits it out at the torn area, visually restoring the card with absolutely no cover.

Making Ends Meet

All piece by piece restorations look the same, except this one.

This is as clean and visual as piece by piece torn and restored card effects go.

A quarter is ripped off a signed card and handed to the spectator.

Another quarter is torn off, making it a long half-card.

That long piece is ripped into two and fused back on the other ripped sides, creating the first mismatch.

Now the last piece is removed and restored… but on the wrong side, resulting in a visual oddity.

This next phase is almost eerie.

The magician merely gazes at the last piece, and it suddenly shifts, steadily sliding by its fibres over to the correct side.

Finally, the last piece is that the spectator has been holding onto the entire time suddenly changes in colour, permanently mismatching it from the rest of the card.

All the effects have MULTI-ANGLED studio performances and tutorials and explain everything in painstaking detail.

All the routines leave the spectator-signed card examinable after the effect, and the cards can be given out as souvenirs.

These routines are visual, hard-hitting, and direct.

There is something for everybody here, and every effect is as powerful as the other in different situations.

Here’s what it is in more detail.

A card is freely selected and is signed twice on the back by a spectator, on the top and on the bottom. Details are then written on the face of the card, making the card significantly unique. ANY signature is selected and cleanly sliced out with a pen-knife.

A “time bomb” is introduced and placed over the hole.

The bomb is lit and bursts into flames, enveloping the hole in a swirl of fire, VISUALLY SEALING the hole, blasting the card back in time so it is now FULLY RESTORED.

The card is then immediately handed out for examination and can be kept by the spectator as a souvenir, the effect, scorched into his mind for eternity.

As magicians, whether we've practiced for 10 months or 10 years, we've all "found" a spectator's card. We've all made a card flip upside down in a deck. We've all made a signed-card rise to the top of the deck. We've all done a triumph rutine.

But that's where it stops.

We have NOT all made a mixed deck correct itself while the ENTIRE DECK every single back in the deck including the spectator's card changes... Every card, all 52, in the entire deck changes in a flash of fire within a split second giving a moment of startling, visual, in your face magic.

THIS is X-Marks The Spot...

Effect

You, in a pseudo demonstration on how magicians use marked cards take your audience through a deck of red cards to see if they can find the marks themselves. Unfortunately, they are not able to see a thing, and believe at this point that you are pulling their leg. So, to prove they really are marked, a card is selected and signed on its face and lost in the deck. One half of the deck is turned face up and shuffled into the face down half. The cards are spread to show the mess. You ask one more time if they can see the marks on the back. Once again, the answer is no. Accusing the lighting conditions on this sight problem, you pull out a lighter and a piece of paper with a big black X drawn on it. Suddenly the paper is ignited accidentally and in an explosion of fire the paper is tossed at the deck and INSTANTANEOUSLY a black appear on the back of the deck. Also, all of the cards are face down and ALL THE CARDS HAVE A BIG X ON THE BACK OF EACH CARD except for on that is face-up in the spread...you guessed it, the selected signed card. As if that were not enough, you explain that you were not really looking for those marks but the one on the back of the selected card. As you turn the card over, its found to have a BLUE BACK.
